Your First Visit
At the first appointment, Dr. Vossers will perform a preliminary, complimentary clinical examination to determine if there is an orthodontic problem, the extent of the problem, the best time to start treatment, and possible treatment options. If orthodontic treatment is indicated at this time, diagnostic records will be necessary. If the patient is not ready for treatment at this time, he or she will be placed on recall for a complimentary periodic observation to record dental and growth changes.
Diagnostic Records
Diagnostic records are made to determine the best course of treatment. Complete diagnostic records typically include a medical/dental history, clinical examination, study models of the teeth, photos of the patient's face and teeth, and X-rays. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care. The fee for the records is due the day records are taken.
Consultation
After the doctor has evaluated your records, we discuss your proposed treatment with you in detail and the cooperation needed, including the cost for your particular situation. For patients under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present.
Appointments
While in orthodontic appliances, an appointment is scheduled every 5 to 8 weeks. We schedule certain types of appointment at specific times of the day to allow us to see more patients in our popular afternoon times. In order to be fair, afternoon times will be rotated among our patients on an equal basis.
If for any reason you are unable to keep your appointment, we respectfully request a 48 hour notice.
Payment & Office Policies
Fees
The fees for treatment depend on the severity of the patient's problem. We will discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We accept assignment from most insurance plans and we will file the necessary papers to the insurance company. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable.
Payment Arrangements
In an effort to make orthodontic treatment affordable, while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established the following financial policies:
- To fit your individual needs, typically the fee is divided into an initial down payment and monthly payments.
- If full payment is made at the onset of treatment, we will offer a 5% fee discount.
- Care Credit is available for more flexible payment options.
- For your convenience, we accept payment by VISA, MASTERCARD and Care Credit.
- At your request we will draft your monthly payments from your VISA or MASTERCARD.
- In cases of serious delinquency, treatment will be discontinued, although we will make every effort to accommodate patients with temporary difficulties.
Insurance
If you have insurance, we will help you to determine the coverage you have available. We ask that you assign your insurance benefit to us. The balance will be arranged for you to pay (see above). Professional care is provided to you, our patient, and not to an insurance company. Thus, the insurance company is responsible to the patient and the patient is responsible to the doctor. We will help in every way we can in filing your claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf.
